The Club meets on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, except January, at the Philatelic Centre rooms at 67 Mandeville Street, Riccarton, Christchurch (New Zealand) at 8.00 pm. ActivitiesWe have a speaker who usually accompanies his/her talk with slides or artifacts. Subject matter of these talks ranges over the whole gamut of antiques and collectables. We provide tea/coffee and biscuits in an informal manner at the end of each talk, where the nights subject can be discussed. We also run a raffle each month. We have outings to country museums, houses of interest etc. twice per year. We also have an extensive library which is available free of charge. Membership
Our membership is about 140 at the moment with a meeting attendance of about 70 most months. Membership costs $24.00 per person or $32.00 for couples per year, plus a door charge of $1.00 to cover supper. Visitors to the Club are welcome and are charged $2.00 per visit. Members receive a monthly newsletter with details of upcoming events and a relevant article on antique collecting. There is plenty of parking and good lighting around the venue. About the club
The Canterbury Antique Collectors Club was formed in 1968 and until June of 2001 met at Riccarton House, but because of a change in usage of the property we regretfully had to find another venue. Our association with Riccarton House may well continue in the form of displays of members' collections in conjunction with Heritage Week (October). The Club is run by a committee of 11 members, John Reeves being our current President. John's contact telephone number is (03) 358 3979. To email the committee: judycook@inet.net.nz |
